It is so nice, calming and refreshing to have a bathroom counter that is free of clutter. It makes the space look bigger and is less stressful than having a lot of stuff piled on the counter. My bathroom counter has three items on it, which I think are essential: hand soap, lotion and air freshener. Of those three, the air freshener is the only one that maybe isn’t as necessary.
With such a clean counter, you may wonder where I keep the things I need to get ready in the morning. My toothbrush, tooth paste, floss and mouthwash are all in the medicine cabinet which isn’t shown in the picture. The other items I need are in the drawer (shown below). But if there were no drawers, these items can easily fit into a small container. And even of these items, I don’t need all of them. There are some headbands in there that I never use, the little rubber bands are rarely ever used, the tweezers haven’t been used in forever.
If you currently have a lot of stuff on your bathroom counter, I recommend taking it all off except for 2 or 3 essentials and try that out for a few days. You can put the stuff in another room or under the sink (if you have storage space there) and just see how it feels for a few days. See if you notice yourself feeling more calm and less stressed and more refreshed in the mornings. At the same time, you can also look through all the stuff you had on the counter and determine whether or not you really need it. Maybe there are things you never use or want to stop using and this would be a great time to get rid of them. Maybe some items are even expired and you didn’t notice. Clean it up, clear it out and simplify everything.
