My husband and I went on the Panama Canal Cruise on the Disney Wonder in May 2016. For our stop in Cozumel, Mexico, we chose the Fury Catamaran Sail Snorkel and Beach Party (CZ12) through the Disney Port Adventures. We actually wanted to do this excursion two years ago but I had just sprained my ankle/foot really badly before the trip so we ended up doing something else instead.
The catamaran ride was really nice, lots of seats in the shade and there were bathrooms as well. The description on the Disney website says you’ll go to a “crystal clear snorkeling site” and even though you could definitely see fish and the water was clear, I don’t know if I’d call the place we went to crystal clear. The snorkeling was fun, nothing too crazy but there were lots of little fish and small fish. Some fish were black and bright yellow, those were pretty cool. Another was very colorful almost like a rainbow. They did provide snorkel gear but I had my own prescription swim goggles so I only used the life vest provided.
After snorkeling, we got back on the catamaran and went to a beach that is only for the fury catamarans like the one we were on. The beach wasn’t crowded at all, there were large inflatables in the water to play on, lounge chairs on the beach, hammocks, beds, etc. There was food and a bar, drinks were included but the burgers were $11 – we just got some soda. While we were swimming in the ocean, these weird fish swam by really fast, they were near the surface of the water but seemed really long and narrow – no idea what they were.
After some time on the beach, we were rounded back up to the catamaran and returned to the cruise ship. Drinks were served on board and music was playing and people (mostly kids) were dancing out on the open deck. It was fun and enjoyable, pretty relaxing but cool to see the fish.
