“And the crowds asked him, ‘What then shall we do?’ And he answered them, ‘Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.'” -Luke 3:10-11
“What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace, be warmed and filled,’ without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” -James 2:14-17
“And Jesus called them to him and said to them, ‘You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.'” -Mark 10:42-45
*My thoughts: The first scripture encourages me to give and share. Are there things that I have extra and others have none? Yes. Should I give to those who do not have any? Yes. The second scripture reminds me that it is great consider giving but it does no good unless I actually take action on those thoughts and do something. The third scripture tells me that even Jesus came to serve and not just be served – if He who is way greater than I came to serve then I also shall serve.
