Scripture – Isaiah 57:1-2

“The righteous man perishes, and no one lays it to heart; devout men are taken away, while no one understands. For the righteous man is taken away from calamity; he enters into peace; they rest in their beds who walk in their uprightness.”

*My thoughts: This scripture brings me comfort when I think of people I know that seemed to have left this world too soon. It’s a reminder that they are taken to a better place, away from the troubles of this world and into a calmness. This world has a lot of troubles, problems, sin, and evil but there is a better place waiting for us. Notice, though, the descriptions of this person who perished: righteous, devout, upright. This scripture cannot be applied to all people yet even the thief who was on the cross next to Jesus found a place in paradise. So there is hope for all people to get to that place of peace.
