Scripture – 1 Thessalonians 5:14-15

“And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all. See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone.”

*My thoughts: First, I wanted to look up both “admonish” and “idle” to make sure I have a correct grasp on their meaning. Admonish could mean warn, advise, urge, or reprimand. Idle could mean lazy, inactive or avoiding work. Idle people do not seem to be contributing anything to society so I can see why this would be a problem and should be dealt with. To me, it is more obvious as to why it would make sense to encourage the fainthearted and help the weak and be patient with everyone. Always seek to do good. Now if only everyone would follow this advice…
